We are building toward the start of Guided Reading next week. This means that students will begin to have independent Reading and Writing work while the teacher is working with a small group of other students on reading at their particular instructional level. One option during independent work will be Word Work. In this center, students will work on tapping out words, building them with magnetic letters, and then writing them. We began using the Word Work center last week, practicing a straightforward but independent activity that will be repeated with new words or concepts as we move forward.
